Fabio Iaquone has established a productive web of aesthetic
complicity with some of the most daring artists who have made the stage of Teatro Nacional
S. João the previleged location for their new productions. Working simultaneously through
manual and sophisticated means around the videographic image, he transfigured Os Gigantes
da Montanha (The Mountain Giants), directed by Giorgio Barberio Corsetti, and Piano Forte,
with stage direction by Ricardo Pais. Together with João Tuna, he directed As Lições
(The Lessons) -which is perhaps the most daring piece of video-theatre produced in
Portugal - whose exhibition rights have since been acquired by RTP.
With the installation Zoo, PONTI has gained a setting in which the restless art of Fabio
Iaquone is displayed through a device permanently open to the circulation of a dreamlike
flow of bodies haunted by sound and visual landscapes.
